BERMAD’s Solutions for Filtration Systems Webinar – Your Questions Answered
Learn how BERMAD’s hydraulic solutions enhance filtration efficiency, protect system components, and ensure reliable performance in irrigation, seawater, and industrial applications – answered by our experts in this informative webinar.
Efficient water filtration is critical for protecting water systems and ensuring reliable, long-term performance. To achieve the most effective results in irrigation and waterworks applications, especially in systems designed for drip irrigation, industrial processes, and seawater treatment, efficient filtration is essential. Whether using disc, media, or screen filter technologies, BERMAD’s smart hydraulic solutions integrate seamlessly to enhance filtration efficiency, streamline operations, and ensure reliable performance over time.
Watch our recent webinar recording to learn more about these solutions and gain practical insights that will help you enhance your understanding of filtration system design and operation.
During the webinar, several intriguing questions were raised. Here are some of the issues we addressed:
The main solution that requires remote control by the filtration system controller is BERMAD Series 350 Backwash valve; these valves are also suitable for pneumatic control.
Indeed, the flow control valve, installed on the filter’s drain line, is exposed to dirty water. Nevertheless, each control loop assembled on BERMAD hydraulic valves is protected by a self-flushing in-line filter used for filtering the control water and protecting all control accessories, including the pilot (400 Microns).
In addition, ongoing simple maintenance might be required, including on-site cleaning of the pilot and control filter.
The most recommended valve model for sand flushing is a composite material valve with a double chamber design and a three-way control loop. By using this solution, a powerful and accurate valve response can be achieved. For example, model IR-110-DC-3W-X is BERMAD’s double chamber, three-way, solenoid-controlled valve. This valve can also be installed in a reverse flow configuration so that it is normally closed for fail-safe operation.
Flow limiting control valve is highly recommended to be installed on the filtration station drainpipe.
The flow control valve limits the flow to a preset maximum value.
During the backwash process, the valve limits the dirty water flow to prevent a scenario of high flow velocity that might lead to media loss from the gravel filters.
BERMAD’s recommendation is to install a quick pressure relief valve at the inlet line of any filtration system to protect it from spikes in pressure. In addition, it is highly recommended to install a quick pressure relief valve at the downstream of any pressure reducing valve, insuring system protection from any pressure rise due to system changing conditions. This is what we call a “holistic pressure reducing station”.
