Van điều khiển bằng thủy lực, kiểm soát mực nước và duy trì áp suất, dùng để kiểm soát việc cấp nước và mực nước trong bể chứa. Trong quá trình cấp nước, van duy trì áp suất tối thiểu ở phía thượng lưu bất kể lưu lượng hoặc mực nước trong bể thay đổi.
Van sẽ đóng lại khi mực nước trong bể đạt đến mức cao đã cài đặt trước và sẽ mở hoàn toàn khi mực nước giảm khoảng một mét (3 ft), được cảm nhận bởi bộ điều khiển độ cao 3 chiều gắn trên van chính.
